Definition

Truancy is when someone absence from compulsory education . It is absences caused by students of their own free will, and usually does not refer to legitimate "excused" absences, such as ones related to medical conditions.  

 

Causes 

one of the causes of student misses school will for different maybe depending of the age and circumstances of each student. Sometimes a student will skip school because they feel unsafe at school or on their way to or from school. Other students may miss school because of family issues o economies.here the many reasons of the truancy:

• lack of interest in education and alienation from school
• Fear of violence on the way to school or at school
• alienation from authority
• lax parental supervision 

Consequences 

Truancy have many negatively impacts  on students. Students who are truant are more likely to fall behind academically, drop out of school, use drugs and alcohol, and be involved with the criminal justice system. And this is bad besause 

fter five absences:

• Excused Absences: The teacher will contact theparent or guardian by telephone or parentalconference regarding attendance whenpossible. If contact is unsuccessful, then a letteror postcard will be sent.

.

• Unexcused Absences: After two reasonableattempts to notify the parent, guardian, or otherperson who has control or charge of a child with five unexcused absences without response,the school administrator shall send a notice to such parent, guardian, or other person bycertified mail, return receipt requested.
